I read through your eyes,
Gleaned knowledge from books
In your wise old hands,
Peering through horn rimmed glasses.
A woman – I stood proud and tall.
I measured the worlds distance,
By steps you took,
Measured progress walking two steps behind,
A woman – I stood proud and tall.
I saw the bright rays of the morning sun,
Peering over your shoulder,
Watched the worlds colors change,
Standing beside you,
A woman – I stood proud and tall.
I built a home around you,
Grace, happiness, Joy,
Shared a world created beside you,
A woman – I stood proud and tall.
I learnt to walk alone,
Created a world around me,
Built smiles all around,
As the world changed around me,
A woman – I stood proud and tall.
I now to deal with unknown pain,
Numbing my senses,
Courage and strength still abounds,
Looking over life’s horizon,
Seeing only beauty inside and around me,
A woman – I stood proud and tall.
I face the world now,
Future beckons – sometimes uncertain,
Look at the world around me,
My family, children and beings,
Around me, surrounding me,
I still stand proud and tall,
And forever will be,
I am called Neela – for happiness, joy
Courage and strength is me.
